John joined Furst Group following its acquisition of Legacy BioSearch Partners, the retained firm he founded for biotechnology and life sciences organizations. As Founder and CEO, he built Legacy around hands-on leadership, rigorous market intelligence, thorough assessment, and a personalized approach, principles he carries into every search at Furst Group.
Across his career, John has partnered with organizations from venture- and private equity-backed startups to established public companies. His experience spans biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life science tools, CROs, CDMOs, healthcare technology, AI-enabled platforms, and the broader life sciences ecosystem. He has led searches for CEOs, CCOs, COOs, CFOs, and senior leaders across R&D, clinical development, medical affairs, operations, finance, sales, marketing, and other critical functions.
Client-side experience has also had a profound impact on John’s perspective and approach to executive search. After supporting Tenpoint Therapeutics as a search and talent partner, John joined its leadership team as Vice President of Talent Strategy and Acquisition to help scale the company for commercialization. He led headcount planning, developed the talent acquisition roadmap, and drove the hiring of 53 people in 11 months, including the commercial leadership team and other key leaders. The experience deepened his understanding of how executives translate business strategy into the leadership and organizational capabilities needed to execute it.
John believes executive search partnerships go beyond identifying strong candidates. He works alongside clients from defining the leadership need through completion, personally leading search strategy and coordinating Furst Group resources around each client’s culture, strategy, and goals. His approach combines deep listening, rigorous market intelligence, transparency, and high-touch communication to create an exceptional client and candidate experience.
After graduating summa cum laude from Georgia State University’s Honors Program with a BBA in Finance, John began his healthcare career as an MRI Technologist at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, John cared for patients for three years before moving into recruiting. That foundation shapes his appreciation for the impact healthcare organizations and leaders have on patients and communities. Outside work, John is happiest spending time with his wife and two sons. He enjoys hiking, traveling, grilling for family and friends, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
