As a Chief Human Resources & Ethics Officer, Clarissa has expertise in strategic planning, ethics and compliance, diversity, inclusion and belonging, and mergers and acquisition integration in global and domestic companies. She has more than 25 years of experience in all areas of HR and has a passion for team development, executive coaching, board development, data analytics, cultural transformation, and mindfulness.
Clarissa assists NuBrick Partners’ clients with Succession Management and Cultural Transformation engagements. She has the “in the chair” experience to provide critical insights to leadership teams undergoing significant change. Clarissa is frequently asked to speak on the topic of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), and she has a special interest in the intersection of belonging and EQ.
Throughout her career, Clarissa has served in a number of leadership roles including, Senior Vice President & Chief HR Officer of Sophos, a global cybersecurity company; Chief Human Resources & Ethics Officer of Abt Associates, a professional services firm that applies systems analysis and social science techniques to social and economic problems; Chief People Officer for DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest law firms. Clarissa directly led the D&I function at these organizations and was charged with creating and implementing D&I strategies globally.
Clarissa is the past Chair of the Board of Directors of the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI), the internationally recognized certifying organization for the HR profession with more than 500,000 certificants in 100 countries. She co-authored the book Maximizing Your HR Efforts (Thomson Reuters /Aspatore, 2009), and is a co-author of the e-book The Rise of HR: The Wisdom of 72 Thought Leaders (2015). In November 2019, Clarissa delivered a presentation on the topic of “Competitive Edge: Global Experience for a Diverse Workforce” at the Institute for International Education conference.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, University College, Clarissa holds the Hogan Assessment, Advanced Interpretation and Advanced Feedback certifications, Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), and the Leading Professional in Ethics and Compliance (LPEC) certifications. She is also certified in DiSC, Myers-Briggs (MBTI), Mergers and Acquisitions integration, as well as Leadership Architect, Interview Architect and 360 Feedback Facilitation and Interpretation.
