The 'shoe test': Does your board pass the diversity challenge?

In a recent issue of Trustee magazine, Kelvin Westbrook, chair of BJC Healthcare in St. Louis, said advice he was given long ago still resonates with him -- and with us as we read the story: If there isn't a diversity of shoes around a decision-making table, you probably don't have a diversity of backgrounds and will get a narrower perspective on a problem.
